During class today I did not realize that the type of art I was creating was called gestalt. I have seen this type of art before and I always thought it was very cool and it was something I've always wanted to do. Today I learned what that was by using Adobe Illustrator.
GESTALT: a structure, configuration, or pattern of physical, biological, or psychological phenomena so integrated as to constitute a functional unit with properties not derivable by summation of its parts.

String and Exquisite Corpse
The two projects we did in class did not seem that exciting to me. I did the assignments without thinking about it first. I did not take composition into mind durring these projects because I was rushed for time. Although, I was surprised to see how the projects turned out. Once you tied everything together, it was much more interesting. If i could do this again I would of thought it out more and I would of made a better composition.
Line and Shape Questions
1. The images a, b, and c could all be lines.
2. The images a, b, c, and d are all shapes.
3. A line is a connection between point a and point b. Lines can be any thickness or shape and does not have to keep the same consistency.
4. Shapes are lines connected to make one solid object. This object can be geometric or organic.

week one
This picture looks like it was drawn using pen and pencil. The whole thing is in black, red, and gray on white paper. There is a wide variety of line movement also. The most amount of activity in the picture is mainly in the middle, although many lines run off the page. The backdrop in the drawing looks like it was drawn in pencil because it fades to gray. The middle is darker and much more detailed. And lastly, there are only three red lines in the foreground.
To me, the picture is a drawing of an aerial war zone. There is a darker figure on the left side of the picture that looks like an airplane. The airplane figure looks like it is flying into a huge explosion in the sky. The red lines around the explosion remind people of death, war, and blood. Also, the diagonal lines in the distance give an illusion of going downhill or falling. The picture might imply that the explosion was other airplanes' crashing in the sky.
I personally really like this drawing a lot. I enjoy viewing and working with pen and ink. When I had to make a choice of what image to analyze, I kept coming back to this picture. I think the red lines really pull this picture together and the contrast makes it way more interesting.
